Confirmation
Confirmation is the rite in which we express a mature commitment to Christ. Adults, aged 16 and older, are confirmed by the bishop, at a ceremony generally held once a year.
To be confirmed, a person must be baptized, have undergone instruction in the Christian faith, be penitent for his or her sins, and be ready to affirm a belief in Jesus. At the same service, those who have already been confirmed in the Lutheran, Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox traditions may be “received into the Episcopal Church,” and those already confirmed may choose to reaffirm their baptismal vows.
